NSP’s new Leadership Development Course is designed to equip patrollers with the knowledge and confidence to lead with clarity, integrity, and purpose.

This self-paced course features 38 modules covering the full spectrum of leadership development—from self-awareness and communication to strategic thinking and ethical decision-making. The course reflects the realities of leading in high-responsibility, team-based environments.

Flexible Learning for Every Patroller

The course is structured to meet patrollers and other recreationists where they are in their leadership journey. 

• The Introductory Track offers a strong foundation for those new to leadership. 
• The Role-Based Tracks focus on the practical application of leadership within specific NSP positions. 
• The Topic-Based Tracks allow learners to explore key areas such as communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and strategic planning. 
• For maximum flexibility, the Master Track provides full access to all modules, enabling a fully customized learning experience.

Focused, Practical Development

Core content areas include the foundations of leadership, leading in action, strategic thinking using different models, ethics and accountability, and organizational awareness within NSP. Each module is designed for real-world applications, incorporating activities, case studies, and tools that patrollers can immediately apply within their teams.

The online, self-paced format allows members to complete coursework on their own schedule—on or off duty.
